Japsang — Guardian from the Roof

Japsang sat in single file on the hip ridges of palaces like Gyeongbokgung, chasing off evil spirits — droll watchers said to be modeled on the pilgrim monk Tripitaka and his companions.
The bluntly worn mane and eyes of this one are the mark of long wind and rain. Down from the high roof and seated at eye level, it inspires affection before fear.
