Hyeongsim (形心) — Le Modulor × GOBOKII
Le Modulor and GOBOKII present an exhibition together: “Hyeongsim (形心)” — a show that departs from the words of the French modernist Charlotte Perriand: “form follows soul.”
Le Modulor, a gallery of French modern design furniture, and GOBOKII, a gallery of Korean antiquity, have opened their storerooms to place the furniture of France’s modern masters and the objects of Joseon in one space. A small bandaji chest seated beside Perriand’s bed and stools, a white porcelain ritual dish upon it; white porcelain standing before Jean Prouvé’s steel wall; a Joseon signboard and a straw rain cape hung beside a modern desk and chair — objects of different eras and nations do not crowd each other out, but light each other’s forms.
A thing made around function and a thing made with the maker’s heart change the heart of the user differently. We invite you to walk slowly through the concrete rooms of the Le Modulor building in Yeonnam-dong and meet the moments where form and heart resonate across East and West, across centuries.
