JoongAng Ilbo Picnic | Dapsimni, Hotter Than Seongsu: Go Bok-hee at Its Heart

The JoongAng Ilbo’s “Picnic” column identified the second-generation shop “Go Bok-hee” as a key driver of Dapsimni’s popularity. Kim Seong-ho, the owner of the home goods store Gobokhee, which opened in January of last year, described the buzz: “From when we opened until September, we had about four groups a day, mostly seniors and foreigners, but starting in the second half of the year, people started flocking in, and last weekend, we had about 1,000 visitors.”
Go Bok-hee, which means “the joy of old things,” began as an atelier near Janghanpyeong Station and opened a home goods store in Dapsimni last January, operating on Saturdays. Its distinctive feature is that rather than displaying every item it has, it leaves space and carefully curates its selection to enhance the “joy of discovery.”
